W.W. Bradley and Gus M. Wood, champion whist players of the Hills, were in the city yesterday taking in some of our innocents.

Gus Woods and Jack Kingsley, champion whist and memble peg players, are in the city looking for an engagement. They make Spearfish their headquarters in cold weather, but a ground hog sun starts them for the Hills. They have money.

Wednesday evening, when John Gaston was taosting his shins, preparatory to retiring, the door bell rang, and upon opening the door he found a delegation of friends, ladies and gentlemen, who came in and gave the family a surprise. Tables were placed in position and the evening, up to a late hour, spent in playing whist. It was a perfect surprise to all.

There was a large party of friends gave Mr. and Mrs. Ismon a surprise last evening. While they were down town the party took possession of their residence and commenced making themselves at home. The storming party included Mr. and Mrs. Corson, Mr. and Mrs. William Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Gaston, Mr. and Mrs. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. William Lake, Mr. and Mrs. King, Mr. and Mrs. Gillette, Mr. and Mrs. Porter Warner, Mr. and Mrs. Shoudy, Professor Conant, H.B. Wardman, and others. They commenced playing whist, and when the host and hostess arrived they found a gay crowd of laughing and joking over the idea of how completely they had surprised the Ismons. The evening was passed in singing and playing cards, and concluded with a grand spread of the good things furnished by the ladies.
